I'm talking to myself again

Talking to myself again / 4 x 5 ft / Acrylic on canvas

This is me talking to myself again.

"Is media fair? Should I move to another country? Is there a God? Am i communicating in this painting?

For every life-changing choice, we have found ourselves sitting there, arguing with ourselves about whether or not to do something, hence this painting.

Psychology tells us we have many selves who fight amongst each other. There is the childlike self that says "You're never going to know if you don't try!" often clashing with the rational self who foresees impact and consequence; and would rather sit down and think everything through.

Hindsight will always make us wiser, but for that particular moment, wherever we are, we remain unsure of which of ourselves is right when faced with such decisions. It is a pattern as old as good vs. evil, right vs. wrong. Whether gift or curse, it is brought upon us by free will and choice.

After everything, we have no one to talk to but ourselves -- they make at once the harshest critics, the best of friends and the only advice we will ever truly heed in the end.

And there is no one to thank or blame but our own selves."

This is me talking to myself again.
